Read Full Review, Hellions has been a book that has taken me by surprise. The Magic Fish has been billed as a story about a young, queer, first generation immigrant kid who uses fairy tales to breach the language barrier between himself and his parents, in order to come out to them. If you missed the last one, read this. Psylocke and Madelyne Pryor are oversexualized in a way that detracts from the book. HELLIONS is a comic I truly didnt know I wanted or needed but I simply cant wait until next month's issue to wet my whistle. I hope we have much more of Madelyne in the future. The Hellions have been a strange team from the beginning, a collection of mutants who don’t play well with others eliminating dangerous threats so out of the way that it doesn’t matter how much collateral damage they cause. Read Full Review, Though the length of time between these first two issues has been frustrating, I truly think Hellions #2 was worth the wait. Interested to see where this leads. I like how the story develops beginning with the tension between the human cops and the mutant Hellions.
If you like a darker book with a lot of humor then pick this one up. Chock full of wonderful, darkly wacky character moments, a rich team dynamic, and story hook that continues to pay out dividends (now made even more richly complex thanks to Pryor's return), Hellions #2 continues to be wholly it's own thing and by doing so, absolutely stands out amid the Dawn of X pack. Mister Sinister got really mad that he was being forced into the field so he unthawed a copy of himself from his illicit clone farm. Under Sinister's direction, they are sure to become productive members of mutant society. It’s part society pages of superhero lives, part reading recommendations, part “look at this cool art.” There may be some spoilers. When Krakoa opened their doors to all mutants and forgave all past crimes, they might have known they'd have to accept some of their worst foes into the fold... but they didn't plan for what to do with them.
There may not be enough context. The fight scene that takes up much of the book is really fun to read. Not much else happens but it was pretty enjoyable. Writer Zeb Wells (AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, NEW MUTANTS) and artist Stephen Segovia (WOLVERINE: MANIFEST DESTINY, SUPERIOR CARNAGE) bring you the team you're going to hate to love! Nguyen brilliantly interweaves all of this with original, yet familiar, fairy tales, and uses distinct coloring to separate past, present, and fantasy.

Now, thanks to X of Swords, they’ve evolved into their true form: the Suicide Squad of the X-Men. Methinks Wild Child is gonna get a psychic smackdown. Zeb Wells has done a great job of reeling in readers and keeping them guessing. I have no familiarity with any of the characters (I always wondered about Nanny -even before knowing her name). 8.3 Avg. Five swords down, five to go, before the X-Men battle it out in Otherworld. It's been a long wait since the first issue but it's been more than worth it. I don’t think I care about any of these characters yet... I’m trying but they’re not connecting to me!
User Rating + Pull List. It’s a classic Suicide Squad-style yarn, but with Psylocke, Havok, and Mister Sinister in charge. Nanny provides some nice humor, though one of the gags goes on a beat too long. Wells doesn't waste a lot of time getting to the action, but he's still able to do some nice work with his characters, balancing things very well.

Steve Orlando and Davide Tinto challenged themselves to write an original superhero crossover comic — a Crisis on Infinite Earths that kicks off with a whole cast of never before seen superheroes. Enjoyed this book. Otto Binder, also name dropped above, co-created Supergirl and much of the Shazam family, before dying at the age of 63 after much family tragedy. But Trung Le Nguyen’s debut graphic novel is about even more than that, focusing just as much on the inner life of young Tiến’s mother, as she comes to terms with leaving her family behind in Vietnam. Read Full Review, All of the ingredients for an excellent run are still present after a very impressive debut in the spring, and they mark Hellions as a potential breakout series that any skeptical Marvel fan should consider adding to their roster post haste. But the copy didn’t want to go either so ... they rock-paper-scissors-ed for it. Or at least not coming back the same. I love the darker tone that is coming out of this and X-Force and I enjoy most of the characters that are being featured in this series.
